MQ-9 Fuel Systems Maintenance
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Nathaniel Bahler helps Airman 1st Class Mahad Quraishi, 163d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, California Air National Guard, exit a fuel bladder during fuel systems maintenance on an MQ-9 Reaper aircraft, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., June 2, 2026. A fuel leak was detected on the aircraft, and the source was traced to a faulty fuel bladder. To conduct fuel systems maintenance, crew chiefs are required to ground additional equipment, take air quality measurements, and employ additional protective measures to ensure the safety of those conducting the maintenance.
