Boreas prepares 163d Communications Flight for evolving cyber threats
Airmen assigned to the 163d Communications Flight, California National Guard, work together to defend the network from a simulated threat during training exercise Boreas, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., August 2, 2026. Defenders were tasked with using network tools to analyze information to track down and eliminate a simulated threat. Training like this is outside of the typical scope of a communication specialist’s workflow; however, this command prioritizes providing this training to maintain a ready force to defend the network and cyberspace from adversaries.
